WHERE CATS LIVE
CATS is currently raising awareness based in 5 universities; Manchester, Cambridge, London, Leicester and Liverpool. If there isn't a CATS where you are - why not start one! Just get in touch via the Contact Us page...
CATS Manchester is where it all began! Since September 2014 we’ve been making sure every student on campus knows the common signs and symptoms and when to go and see their GP. We host events such as acoustic nights, pub quizzes, comedy nights, lectures, workshops, and more. In 2016 we hosted the first UoM ‘Battle of Societies’, pitting all the performing societies of UoM against each other in a Britain’s’ got Talent style event. This year we’ve got loads more planned, we’re going bigger and better to step up all of last year’s events, and we’re even throwing in a few new surprises… keep an eye on the events section on our Facebook page! We’re always looking for more people who want to get involved, you can get in touch with us below:
We are in our second year of raising the awareness of the most common signs and symptoms of cancer in young people to the students of the University of Cambridge.
This year, we’re hoping to organise many more successful events. These will include many bar quizzes, a CATS kitten petting session, another CATS formal (at Catz college) and a Battle of the Societies!
There are lots of ways to get involved with CATS Cambridge. If you’d be interested in hearing about our events and opportunities for volunteering, please contact us and we’ll add you to the mailing list.
If you’d like to get involved immediately with helping us to run our events throughout the university, please contact us for more information about becoming a CATS Rep! This is a great opportunity to get involved in such a great cause, without too much commitment.
Please get in touch for more info about our society or our CATS Rep opportunity!
We're based at Queen Mary University of London and Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Our volunteers will hold regular awareness stalls to encourage discussion and teach self-examination techniques. Regular movie nights will aim to raise funds for our work and keep our volunteers entertained!
For our healthcare students, we will be working with Barts SMD to deliver sessions designed to educate students on cancers affecting teenagers and young people, in order to teach students how best to communicate with these patients. Using a practical and interactive approach with experienced clinicians and patients, the sessions are sure to be popular so look out for ticket announcements soon!
One of our biggest endeavors this year is our CATS Junior Teachers project. Engaging with sixth form students across Newham and Tower Hamlets, we will be working closely with 16- 18 year olds to help them develop awareness projects and lesson plans in their own schools.
Having recently set up a CATS society at the University of Liverpool we are looking to get known! Over the next year we will be running pub quizzes, stalls, workshops and lectures, all so that every student in Liverpool knows what to look for. We then plan to expand on this and reach out to local colleges, where we will aim to raise awareness in younger teenagers aged 16 -18. It's an exciting time to be a part of CATS Liverpool and we are always looking for reps to help out with events, so if this is something that appeals to you, email us and we will add you to our mailing list.
If you would like to learn more about CATS Liverpool or CATS Rep then don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
A brand-new society based at the University of Leicester aiming to ensure every student on campus knows the signs and symptoms of cancer. This year we aim to grow as a society through events such as hosting guest speakers, running pub quizzes and a Christmas ball.
If you’d like to get involved, or be on the committee, let us know!
